A Joyful Celebration with a Full Table of Family and Friends

In the charming village of Vila Fresca de Azeitão, where the Arrábida mountains meet golden countryside, stands Quinta das Torres — an architectural jewel dating back to the 16th century. Created by D. Brites de Lara, granddaughter of King Manuel I, the estate reflects the splendour of the Portuguese Renaissance, enriched with influences from India and Italy.

At its heart, beside a lake mirroring the serenity of the sky and surrounded by centuries of history and nature, Issy and Gerssis exchanged vows in front of 150 guests who had travelled from Portugal, Great Britain, Angola, and São Tomé and Príncipe. Choosing this venue was deeply intentional — for its historic atmosphere, its elegant courtyard designed for open-air celebrations under the stars, and for its personal significance, as the groom spent his childhood in this region.

From the earliest stages, the planning focused on creating a celebration that felt personal, balanced, and true to the couple. Every decision — from the ceremony flow to the guest experience and visual design — was carefully shaped to honour both the setting and Issy and Gerssis’ vision, ensuring the day unfolded with ease and intention.

The ceremony reflected the couple’s shared world: bilingual in English and Portuguese, intimate and thoughtfully crafted. One of the most moving moments came when the bride’s father read a prayer, adding a deeply personal and emotional layer to the exchange of vows.

As the sun began to set, the celebration flowed naturally into the courtyard. Live music set the rhythm for the evening, drawing guests onto the dance floor, before a DJ carried the energy forward well into the night. Friends and family from different backgrounds celebrated together with ease, creating an atmosphere that felt relaxed, joyful, and genuinely connected.

Colour and texture played an important role throughout the day. A vibrant floral arch framed the lakeside ceremony, while colourful table arrangements brought warmth and character to the reception, echoing the joyful spirit of the celebration and complementing the timeless setting.

Issy and Gerssis’ wedding unfolded with authenticity, rhythm, and a strong sense of togetherness — a celebration where history, culture, and modern love met effortlessly at Quinta das Torres.
